Loes de Boer’s black-and-white photographs are sequences of self-portraits, mirrors to her own life and the objects that surround or transform her. Building on art historian research on feminist artist icons, De Boer employs her lens to explore both her own and society’s boundaries and perspectives on identity, sexuality, and womanhood through carefully composed and layered graphic and sculptural compositions.
