Anna & Maria Ritsch are sisters whose creative journey began in early 2020 under the collaborative name ‘Ritsch Sisters’. What began as individual pursuits in photography and art has now evolved into a unified exploration that transcends the traditional boundaries of visual storytelling. Based in Vienna and New York City, the duo creates powerful imagery and video works that delve into the interplay of physical spaces, emotions, and the human experience. Together, they push the limits of photography, experimenting with new mediums and forms, continually searching for innovative ways to intertwine the worlds of art, fashion, and beauty. In carving their own path, they are not just capturing images, they’re telling stories that challenge, inspire, and redefine the visual landscape.

ABOUT THE SERIES

This work explores the delicate nuances of relational tension, the felt, the sensed, the unspoken. It lingers in the space where agency meets vulnerability, where desire is not declared but negotiated through gesture, through presence.

Rather than offering a narrative, the image becomes a site of inquiry.
It asks how we come to know each other, not through certainty but through attunement.
A pull, a pause, a shift in weight become the language.
The conversation lives in the space between bodies,
between intentions, between what is held
and what is let go.

Here, dialogue does not require voice.
Connection does not seek clarity.
Instead, meaning shimmers in ambiguity,
in the choreography of nearness,
in the knowing that precedes language,
in the quiet way the body remembers what came before.
